Review

The Journal of Midwifery and Health Sciences aims to contribute to the knowledge of health sciences by without publication fee publishing scientific research and review studies on the field of health sciences (midwifery, nursing, medicine, nutrition and dietetics, physical therapy and rehabilitation, etc.).


The Journal of Midwifery and Health Sciences covers all scientific studies in the field of health sciences. Those who wish to submit an article for publication in the journal should submit their articles as a member of the Article Tracking System at https://dergipark.org.tr/esbder.

Writing Rules

(1) The studies has been sent to the Editorial Board are published by receiving the positive opinions of the referees.

(2) Manuscripts should be sent to the editorial board in electronic format containing word document (doc) format.

(3) A maximum of 200 words of Turkish and English abstracts should be added by the author. The references and extended English abstract should be included at the end of the study.

(4) Page structure: There should be 2.5 cm space at the top, bottom and sides. As a rule, such articles should not exceed 20 pages.

(5) Text: If the article previously published quote articles, tables, pictures, etc. the author, if any, must obtain written permission from the copyright holder and authors and indicate this in the article. This should be stated as a footnote on the first page of the papers presented at the congress or symposium. The manuscripts that are deemed necessary are not taken into consideration until they are made by the author. In addition, corrections to the spelling rules proposed by the editor or referees should be made by the author. No changes may be made to the manuscripts sent back for correction except the requests of the referees and the editor. Manuscripts that are not written in accordance with the spelling rules cannot be published. No fee is paid to the authors for the articles published in the journal. The manuscripts submitted to the journal for publication are not sent back whether they are published or not. However, the requested articles can be sent back in order to make the correction. The responsibility of the articles published in the journal belongs to the authors. Cited articles can be cited on condition that the source is cited. All manuscripts should be submitted to http://dergipark.gov.tr/esbder.

(6) Points to be considered in Articles Submitted to the Journal for Publication

a. Manuscripts should be written on an IBM-compatible computer, Microsoft Word 7.0 software program, Times New Roman, 12 nk and 1.5 line gap

b. Manuscripts should be 2.5 cm from the top-bottom and right-left sides of the page. All pages should be numbered except the first page.

c. The title of the manuscripts should be written in 12 nk, capital letters and bold characters. The title should reflect the content in the shortest way.

d. Title page; Article title, correspondence address of the author, fax and telephone number (mobile phone number is preferred) and e-mail address. Title of the article should be written on the second page, title, name, and last name in upper case letters and institution should be written.

e. At the beginning of the manuscript, there should be a maximum of 300 words in Turkish and English "ABSTRACT" (10 font and italic characters). Abstract structure: Objective, Method, Results , Conclusion  should be structured. There should be no abbreviations and no references should be used. "Keywords" should be written under the Turkish and English abstracts and they should be written with at least three (3) words. Words should be separated by semicolons (;). English keywords should be provided in accordance with "Medical Subject Headings (MESH)" (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html). Turkish keywords Turkey Science Terms (TBT) should be in accordance with what (http://www.bilimterimleri.co I). The English name of the study should be written in lowercase and in 10 nk

f. Research articles structure: Introduction, Purpose, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and Suggestions, References. The headings of the sections should be 12 nk and bold in capital letters and should be in normal font. Materials and methods should include the type of research, population and sample, sampling method, data collection tool, interventions, if any, ethics, and limitations of the research.

English texts should include abstract, keywords, Turkish abstract, Turkish title, keywords, introduction, methods, finding, discussion and conclusion. Methods section design, population, sample, data collection, ethics and so on. sections.

Ethical responsibility: All research involving the human element must comply with the Helsinki Declaration Principles. In this type of research, authors should state that they conduct research / study in accordance with these principles in the material and method section of the article, and if they have ethics committees, they receive informed written / verbal consent from the relevant authorities and the people who participated in the research. If financial support or funding from any institution is provided for the research, the authors should specify. Authors are responsible for the compliance of the articles with ethical rules.

g. Review Structure: Abstracts (300 words, non-departmental, Turkish and English) should be included in the manuscripts. It should be prepared in a way to include the current literature for all kinds of subjects (midwifery, nursing, nutrition and dietetics, physical therapy and rehabilitation, child development  etc.) that are characteristic in their fields. Particular preference is given to the fact that the author has printed publications on the subject.

ğ. Abbreviations in the manuscripts should be written clearly in the first usage of the manuscript and should be given an abbreviated form in parentheses.

h. Tables in manuscripts should not contain vertical lines and tables should be made by using table menu in word program and number of tables should not exceed 5. Tables should be written with each value in a table in a row and column. 95.88) Figures, pictures, tables and graphics should be indicated at the end of the sentence. Figures, pictures, tables and graphics should be included in the article. Abbreviations used should be indicated in the description below the figures, pictures, tables and graphics. If previously printed figures, pictures, tables and graphics are used, written permission must be obtained and this permission should be stated in the description of figures, pictures, tables and graphics. Pictures / photos should be colored, with contrast and clear detail

ı. The writing languages of articles should be clear and understandable. In Turkish articles, the Turkish dictionary of the Turkish Language Association or http://www.tdk.org.tr address should also be based on a glossary of terms related to the branches of Turkish Medical Associations.

i. Acknowledgments: If the articles contain conflicts of interest, financial support, donations and all other editorial (statistical analysis, English / Turkish evaluation) and / or technical assistance, they should be indicated at the end of the text.

Using References in Text

If the number of authors in the article is two or less, all authors should be indicated. If three or more, the first name should be written and  "et al" /"ve ark." should be added for the others. APA style should be followed in the software of the resources. The references in text can be written in two ways:

-Harmankaya ve Pabuçcu (2001)..............stated 

 

- Dilek ve ark.  (2001)..............stated 

-Body image changes physiologically in different periods of women's life such as adolescence, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause (Bolten 2011; Bennett and Einarson 2018; Kinsella et all. 2019)

References

-References should be given in alphabetical order as a separate list at the end of the text. If the number of authors in the article is two or less, all authors should be indicated. If three or more, the first name should be written and "et al" /"ve ark." should be added for the others.

- Congress declarations, personal experiences, unpublished publications, theses and internet addresses should not be cited as sources.

- DOI is the only acceptable on-line reference.

Examples:

-Authors should pay particular attention to punctuation in the source software.

-For the article: The surname (s) of the author (s) and the initial (s) of the name (s), article name, journal name, year, volume, number, page number should be specified. (The number must be included with the volume).

-Duplicate numbers should not be written when writing the journal source end number (Wrong example: 803-807; Correct example: 803-7.)

-For the book: The surname (s) of the author (s) and the initial (s) of the name (s), the title of the chapter, the name of the editor (s), the name of the book, the number of editions, the city, publisher, year and pages should be specified.

Article Submission: All manuscripts should be submitted to http://dergipark.gov.tr/esbder.

 

(7) Manuscripts should not have been published or submitted for publication anywhere before. The name, place and date of the meeting should be indicated in the papers presented at any scientific meeting but not published.

(8) The author shall transfer to the journal all kinds of copyright authorizations of the manuscript approved for publication in the Journal of Midwifery and Health Sciences.

(9) Copyright rights reserved. The entire studies published in the journal may not be printed, reproduced, photocopied or duplicated in any form by electronic, mechanical recording or similar means without the written permission of the journal owner.

(10) For translated manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Midwifery and Health Sciences, the permission of the owner of the translated manuscript and the original of the manuscript are required. In addition, the translation / translation studies are sent to the referee's approval just like the original article and reviews.


This directive should be carefully examined by all researchers who will submit articles to the journal.
ETHICS POLICY
It is aimed that all the stakeholders (writer, editor, referee, publisher and reader) who carry out a scientific study contribute to the correct progress of science. Compliance with scientific ethical principles is important in scientific studies prepared in accordance with this goal.
These ethical principles have been accepted by us on the basis of the directive prepared by COPE (Committee On Publication Ethics) and some of them are presented below, suggesting that they should be adopted by stakeholders.
1. Publishing and Writing
a) Attention should be paid to the rules of writing in the article.
b) If there are institutions or organizations that support the research, which is the subject of the article, an asterisk should be placed as a superscript at the end of the article title, and the necessary explanation should be made in the footnote of the first page of the article.
c) Regardless of whether it is intentional or not, it is an ethical violation. It is a crime and unacceptable as well as it is unethical to make studies similar to other sources without reference and publishing them as such.
d) Editorial Board can act in accordance with COPE rules in the face of allegations and suspicions of allegations, citation manipulation and data fraud related to the works submitted to the journal. The articles sent to the journal for publication are checked with a program suitable for similarity with the articles published in different journals and various internet sources. Articles that are similar or more similar as a result of control are rejected.
e) Articles determined to use fake data in any way are rejected.
f) Articles previously published in another journal are not taken into consideration.
2. Authors' Responsibilities
a) The author(s) should be able to ensure the accuracy of the data related to the study, keep the records of his research organized and give access to this data upon a possible request.
b) The authors are deemed to have accepted the submission of the articles they submit to the detailed evaluation process.
c) The authors whose names are included in the article must report their contribution to the editorial office.
d) Authors should prepare and submit their articles in accordance with journal rules.
d) Authors whose names are included in any article sent to the journal for publication are deemed to have declared that any data in the article is real and original.
e) Authors cannot simultaneously send their articles to other journals that they have sent to the journal for publication.
f) The authors are obliged to make any corrections requested by the referees and editors regarding their articles that have been evaluated by the referee.
g) In the studies sent to the Journal of Midwifery and Health Sciences to be published; In the Material and Method section of the article, the expression “Ethics Committee approval has been taken” should be included. Author(s) should indicate the institution and approval number of the ethics committee.
h) To ensure that the author(s) comply with national and international laws and guidelines for all studies involving human or animal subjects (eg WMA Helsinki Declaration, NIH Laboratory Animals Policy, EU Directive on Animal Use), should respect privacy.
ı) The author(s) are obliged to comply with the copyright terms related to the material purchased or used from other sources and to sign the contract expressing the transfer of copyright to the Journal.
i) Any responsibility arising from the articles in the journal belongs to the author (s).
j) In the event of any conflict of interest, the author (s) may withdraw it from the editor and publisher when it detects an ethical violation related to his article, to publish an error statement, an addendum, a notice of compensation, or whenever deemed necessary (before the study is accepted).
k) After being sent to the journal for publication, none of the authors can be deleted from the list of authors without the written consent of all authors, and no names can be added as authors, or the author's order cannot be changed.
l) Once the articles submitted to the journal for publication have been completed and accepted to be published by the editor, the article cannot be withdrawn by the author (s).
m) The works sent to our journal to be published must have the characteristics of original work, which has not been published in any way or sent to be published anywhere. When submitting their work, individuals are obliged to declare that the work has not been previously published on any other platform, or has not been evaluated for publication. In the event of a contrary situation, the author (s) will be held responsible for the situation in accordance with the relevant sanctions.
n) By accepting to waive the copyright of their work, the author (s) must transfer the copyrights of their works to the journal together with the submission for evaluation. This transfer becomes binding with the publication of the article. No part of the printed material can be used elsewhere unless the publisher has written permission.
o) Journal publishing processes, International Medical Journals Editors Board (ICMJE), World Medical Editors Association (WAME), Scientific Editors Council (CSE), Editorial Ethics Board (COPE), European Scientific Editors Association (EASE) and National Information Standards organization ( NISO) guides.
ö) The authors; patents, all unregistered rights other than copyright, the right to reproduce for their own purposes provided that they do not sell the work, the author's right to use all or part of the work, in their own books and other academic works, provided that they refer to them, on their personal websites or University reserves the right to keep it in its open archive.
p) Authors should obtain permission from the copyright owner when using previously published content, including helpful images, paintings or any other content in printed or electronic format. Legal, financial and criminal responsibility on this subject belongs to the authors.
r) Authors who will submit a study to our journal must fill in the "Copyright Transfer Form" document. Author(s) must sign the completed form with a wet signature. The signed form must be scanned into the journal and uploaded to the system.
s) Economic or personal benefits create a conflict of interest. Reliability of the scientific process and published articles; it is directly related to the objective handling of conflicts of interest during the planning, implementation, writing, evaluation, editing and publishing of scientific work. Financial relationships are the easiest conflicts of interest to identify, and it is inevitable that the journal will undermine the credibility of writers and science. These conflicts can be caused by individual relationships, academic competition or intellectual approaches. The authors restrict access to all data of the study or analyze, interpret, prepare articles, publish etc. should avoid dealing with both profit and non-profit sponsors that interfere with their abilities as much as possible. In the article, the author (s) must indicate a conflict of interest.
ş) In order to prevent conflicts of interest, editors should also avoid bringing together people who may have any relationship during the evaluation of the works. The editors who made the final decision about the articles also decided.
3. Responsibilities of Referees
a) Referees working in article evaluation should evaluate objectively and impartially.
b) Referees who have any conflict of interest regarding article writers or institutions and organizations that support the article should not report the situation to the editor and should not evaluate the article.
c) Referees cannot share the data of the articles sent to them for evaluation.
d) Referees who believe that the article can be published by requesting a correction have the right to review the article after the necessary corrections are made.
4. Editorial Board Responsibilities
a) Preliminary evaluations of the articles are made by the Editorial Board.
b) Articles are sent to at least two referees by the editorial office for evaluation. Depending on the referee reports, the editorial office decides on the acceptance, rejection or revision of the articles.
c) The editorial office can send the article to a third referee when necessary.
d) The Editorial Board may in no way use the data of unpublished articles for their personal works and share this data in any way.
e) When the article evaluation process is completed, the editor sends the decision to the responsible author.
f) When deciding on the acceptance or rejection of an article, the editor should not be affected by the conflict of interest with the person or persons named in the article.
g) The editorial office should act in a balanced, objective and fair manner while performing its duties without discrimination on gender, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origins of the authors.
h) The editorial office does not privilege any author to evaluate the work submitted to the journal according to its content.
ı) The editorial office takes necessary measures to prevent possible conflicts of interest and evaluates the statements, if any.
i) The editorial office handles sponsored work or work on special topics in the same way as other work.
j) In the event of an ethical violation complaint, the editorial office follows the journal's policies and procedures and applies the necessary procedures. The editorial office does not hesitate to give authors an opportunity to respond to the complaint, to apply the necessary sanctions regardless of who the study belongs to.
k) To reject the work if it does not fit the purpose and scope of the journal.

l)No fee is charged for evaluating the articles submitted to the journal.


Reporting to the Editor the Situation That Does Not Follow Ethical Principles
In the Journal of Midwifery and Health Sciences, if an unethical situation related to editors, referees, authors does not comply with the ethical principles or an article in early evaluation or published article, an unethical situation should be sent to e-mail address to ebelikdergisi@atauni.edu.tr
